Books

I found my book worm-ness I’m not quite sure where it ran off to but it came back and I’ve read reams in the last week or two.

I started with finishing The Moneypenny Diaries by Kate Westbrook (This is her pseudonym – her proper name is Samatha Weinberg). The Moneypenny Diaries is a series of novels and short stories from the perspective of Miss Moneypenny, M’s personal secretary in the James Bond series of books and films. I’ve grown up watching the James Bond movies and the actress who I know as Miss Moneypenny is Samantha Bond (who I later saw as Lady Macbeth in Macbeth at the MK Theatre with my Mum). According to Wikipedia, Weinberg was the first women to write an officially licensed James Bond related story. (I’ve got the feeling that I read the last one in the series before the first one! DOH!)

Following this thanks to my longest known friend (hello! I’ve known her since she got home from the hospital having been born lol) lending me her copy, I read Twilight by Stephanie Meyer plenty of people had recommended it to me but I had never got round to reading it as the hardback copies tend to be expensive and as I read very quickly it needs to be worth it. I really did like it but some bits were a bit expected or too obvious.

Following that I then read Naomi and Ely’s No Kiss List by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan, I saw Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist at the cinema a few weeks ago and added this book and some of Cohn’s other books to my Amazon Wish List.

Then after that I read the second in the Twilight series, which is titled New Moon. I finished this yesterday morning with a quick burst of reading before heading off for work.

Next on my To Be Read list was Petite Anglaise. Courtesy of Little Red Boat, I stumbled across this blog a while back. I’ve read it on and off as my Google Reader gets a little busy. I am about half way through the book and I LOVE IT!!!!!! Petite Anglaise you rock!!!

Sounds like you’ve found a good way to relax 🙂 It’s strange how you can phase in and out of things, when did you feel like you stopped being a bookworm? 🙂

Before Christmas I had a really long to read list but I just looked at the pile/bookcase and none interested me. I started reading Pride and Prejudice and Sense and Sensibility both of which annoyed me as it took twice as much effort to try and read it.

I then won The Moneypenny Diaries and I got hooked again! I am working on reading as many books as possible before I lost my track again.

Can you name books that DON”T sound extremely ‘homosexical.’ Name awesome books like Artemis Fowl or all the other great Eoin Colfer books! Or maybe even Harry Potter! ‘Twilight’ and ‘New Moon’ are all the girls and gay guys talk about!
