Fire at BT Building in Bedford

At lunchtime my Mum sent me an email telling me that my Dad’s work had been evacuated so I texted my Dad.

The alarm had gone off and they had to evacuate. On the local news website it was classed as breaking news but it was posted over an hour and a half after the event (technically it was on Twitter before it was on the News website – Twitter 1 Local News 0). But so that I don’t waste time rehashing a post, I’ll let the man at the Newspaper do the business:

Fire crews unable to find the cause of blaze which broke out on the fourth floor

Emergency services are still at the scene of a mystery fire at the BT exchange building in Harpur Street Bedford.

Firefighters were called to the site at 1.05pm on Friday (March 27) and found thick smoke billowing out of the fourth floor of the building.

Crews used large fans to clear the telephone exchange of smoke, but have not been able to find the cause of the fire.

An investigation into its source is ongoing, but police have reopened the road, which was initially blocked off.

Hope everything is fine at your Dad’s office. It must have been quite an experience to evacuate due to a fire.

I have been fortunate enough to never have been through a fire. My cousin has though, it was a few years ago.
