Movies: Coraline

All week I’ve been meaning to go to the cinema. I have an unlimited card so it’s good to go at least once a week. Sometimes I like to go on my own but sometimes it’s good to have company.

I dropped my friend from church a message yesterday about taking her daughter to see Coraline at the cinema. Little Sooz was quite excited about going when I went to pick her up. She’d been shopping with her Dad in the morning so she was wearing her new summery dress and a new pair of shoes.

We got to the cinema and paid for our tickets. Then went to the popcorn counter. Little Sooz likes salted popcorn but I prefer sweet so I asked if we got have half and half – I thought they would say no but they said it was okay.

We went and found some seats. I think the screen that we were in had been recently refitted as there as more than plenty of leg room and the seats had cup holders (the old ones didn’t have them)

The film was very good. There was a moment in it that could have been inappropriate for a childrens film. The filming style is similar to The Corpse Bride and A Nightmare Before Christmas.

P.S. I just checked and there is a whole speech from Shakespeare quoted. (The same speech is used in Hair: the musical)

“What a piece of work is man, how noble in reason, how infinite in faculties.(And so on….)”
