The One With The Politics

Okay so I don’t like politics – mainly because there is a lot of backstabbing but also mainly because I’m never too sure who to put my trust in (if you can convince me other wise I would like to know )

Anyhoo I was reading the local paper to look at houses and jobs and other random pieces of information that I could acquire then again maybe assimilate as i’ve just finished Season 7 of Star Trek: Voyager. Anyway less of that more of the paper.

So there was a comment there from the blog of Nadine Dorries (she is the politician lady person for Central Bedfordshire (I think!)

It read:

I’m 5ft 3 and need every inch of my Louboutin heels to look my male colleagues in the eye. If high heels were banned in Westminster, no one would be able to find me.

I’m 5ft 2 and a bit – yup not quite 2 or 3 inches. Most days I don’t care about being short – after all it’s the way God made me. But other days it does bug me – quite alot. I try and solve that by trying on  heels when I’m shopping but I struggle to walk in them and so I tend to stick to flats – even for my Wedding I wore flat shoes rather than heels and even those I had to take off. (Also something that I’ve come back with is – was Nadine not commenting about how politicians aren’t paid enough during the Expenses scandal? Louboutin’s aren’t cheap shoes)

So heels aren’t everything – I switch between my pink DM’s and my black ballet pump things and I get by – now admittedly I sit behind a desk all day but it could be worse – I used to wear steel toe caps that were two sizes too big when I worked at a local hardware store.

(NOTE: I did request smaller ones but then when I did have smaller ones my colleagues thought they were spares (or old ones) and threw them out when they decided a midweek clean up was needed so I ended up going back to my big ones)
