I haven’t taken part in 100 Words since about August (I had to look at my old posts to work it out!). I’ve decided that with 2013 – I’m going to try and join in some more.
You can get more information and join in here.
The prompt for this week is …you said you’d do WHAT?….
There goes my weekend. Maybe if I canceled my plans tonight I could still be free for the weekend.
I dialled Sophia’s number and waited for the call to connect, my stomach tied itself I’m a knot.
“Sophia it’s me” I started “The dragon has just handed me extra work. I think I can be free tomorrow if I work this evening”
“You said you’d do WHAT?” Sophia was upset and rightly so “It’s my birthday weekend. You knew we had plans, can’t you tell her to stick it?”
“And risk my job? Sophia I am so sorry. I’ll make it up to you tomorrow”
I don’t know whether I’m tempted by this, or not. Does it carry on from the previous each time?
No each week is a different prompt. Some in the past have followed on but it’s like “take the last five words of someone else’s story and continue writing” I think there are some people who use each prompt as a continuation of their previous weeks story.
So, for the next one you’ll choose someone elses? Or is that a prompt that has happened before, not something that happens every time?
That’s one that happened before but doesn’t happen every time. So next week I’ll probably take the prompt and see what comes to me 🙂 if you click on the tag “100 words” or “100wcgu” that should take you to other posts that I’ve written using the prompts.
I see it’s an ongoing thing. Maybe I’ll have a go when I’m more used to general blogging. I’ll be asking for your help, too, though! It’s still all so new to me…It would, at least, be a way to make friends.
Not a problem you ask away 🙂
Woohoo! It’s great to see so many of the old gang taking part again – Anna Halford, Dughall McCormick and Gill Sussex are all joining back in for 2013 as well. I can really sympathise with both people in this piece – so hard to let friends down, so hard to let your boss down and lose your job.
Jinglewho – we always love to see new people joining in. You don’t have to take part each week if you don’t want to – you just do the prompts that take your fancy. Hope to see some of your pieces in the near future.
I’d been watching Damages before I started writing it and wanted to watch The Devil Wears Prada so I think I was drawing on inspiration lol.
I hope I’ll be back for more than 1 week – I need to actually do it when I get the tweet rather than just opening and closing Twitter and forgetting to come back to it.
Yippee, great to see you back :O)
I like this; it’s such a common situation to end up in . Working is a bummer hey?
Look forward to reading your next one; like you I hadn’t done one for ages…
Work is indeed a bummer but unfortunately it has to be done doesn’t it! One day when my ship comes in I might be a lady of luxury for now I’ll have to stick with being a slave to the boss lol.
Great take on the prompt – and I sympathise with her – there are some things we can’t get out of.
Hey! Thank you for your comment. It sucks sometimes you have to decide which job or event takes priority and sometimes it’s far too hard.
Unfortunate but inevitable.
Good work and well done for joining back in! Let’s try to stick with it!
Hey Dug! Thanks for the comment – sounds like a plan to stick with it!
Ahh…fickle friends!
Reminds me a lot about relationships (all types). Our friends, relatives and partners have expectations of us but we also have our responsibilities and paths. This says to me that we need to remember that the various sides may not always walk hand-in-hand and true friendships require that we put this awareness into action.
Thanks for the reminder.
Hey thanks for the comment. You’re so right. Sometimes our friendships have to make sacrifices.
I know that my grandparents are quite understanding that its physically not possible to see them every week but I do think of them and because my grandad is such a whizz at emails now I’ll email him or send him a message on Facebook just to say hi – it’s not ideal but at the same time it means that I can do it before I go to bed at night or on my way between the car and the office.
