The One With Cutting The Grass

Following church this morning I sat in the garden enjoying my hard work from yesterday and I wrote an email to That Boy as he’s away but can get his emails on his phone. I went out there about 1 pm ish and it was too warm to sit in the sunshine so I parked in the shade but then the sun went in and it went a bit cold.

This weekend I gained some presents – one was new and the other one was new to us.

The first was a compost bin. Yesterday when I was cutting the grass my Dad came round to have a look at the lawn mower as I was really having trouble with it. He asked me where I was going to put the grass cuttings – I hadn’t thought about that. I hadn’t even properly got started so it never crossed my mind about where I was going to actually put the cuttings once I was done! My Mum and Dad went to run some errands and about an hour later the house phone was ringing, I ran down the garden and grabbed the phone from the base in the kitchen. It was Mum telling me to answer the door and let them in lol.

My Dad was stood there with a flat pack compost bin for me to put in the garden. I’ve put it in the far back corner but I’m not sure whether it’ll live in the same place once That Boy gets home. My Dad said about putting up some trellis in front of it so that it disguises what is back there. I think we might have to trim the bush thats at the bottom of the garden so we can get it further in the corner. Because it’s bottomless we’ll have to move some of the pebbles and slabs that are at the bottom of the garden. The other options is to put it next to the summerhouse but I’m worried that the compost fumes etc will do funny stuff to the wood on it.

The Second is the hammock that That Boy bought my Mum and Dad as a thank you present a few years okay, they were tidying up the garden and decided that it wasn’t really being used in their garden and it was taking up some space and asked did we want it. I said “Yep okay” and figured that if we didn’t want it then That Boy could stick it on FreeCycle if needed.

The Stig and The Kiwi walked the hammock frame from my Mum’s house across the park to our house. They’d been to play football then walked to my Mum’s house and collected the frame, they then walked back to the house with the frame.

I walked from my house to the supermarket then across the green to my Mum’s house – I took my flip flops off and walked through the grass without my shoes on to enjoy the fresh cut grass and the warm sunshine. (yeah sounds sooo cheesy!)

I got to Mum’s and me and Dad had a look at the website for the Queen Galadriel (The boat that That Boy is staying on this week) It was funny because when he googled it some of the hits that came up were about the character Galadriel from the LOTR books by J.R.R. Tolkein (and the films directed by Peter Jackson)
Before tea we watched a documentary about Ikea – did you know that they have 5 factories across Sweden and Poland that make all the board and paper and stuff that the products are made of.

At tea time Stig and Kiwi came downstairs and I was laying on the floor in the middle of the hallway because my back needed clicking. Kiwi came downstairs first and decided that it would be hilarious to lay on top of me. It definately did the trick and clicked my back. The Stig then dedcided that he was going to sit on The Kiwi (laying down would have been better because of the whole spreading the weight thing. Then while we were waiting for tea Stig and Kiwi started play fighting in the kitchen, it ended up that Stig was pinned in the corner of the kitchen. The Kiwi had him up against the wall so I started tickling – he let out the most girliest gigle I’ve ever heard – it was at that point that I got the giggles and The Stig got the upper hand – he grabbed my wrist and started to turn it – so I had to let go because he was hurting me.
Me Mum and Dad sat in the living room and watched Doctor Who, after that me, Stig and Kiwi played Wii Fit – which was good because after all the gardening it made my muscles un-seize a bit. We then had a bit of a challenge – you play Boom Boom Pow by the Black Eyed Peas and then you do crunches and stuff like that to it – I was dying by about half way through – I was in sooo much pain lol. The Kiwi at one point grabbed my jeans round the ankles to pull up my legs – just enough to assist but not enough that she was doing all the work lol. Apparently I did well for a beginner lol.
Dad came in to see what the hysterics were about and we tried to get him to do it. The Kiwi tried to get Dad to do it – I think he was trying to show off and join in the fun but instead he ended up lying in the middle of the floor not moving – I think he’d hurt his back or something but didn’t let on. The Stig did really well but he kept holding his breathe. He went a funny purple colour at one point and I had to tell him to breath (which made him laugh lol).
I had a flick through The Stig’s DVD collection – it’s mainly horrors and thrillers and stuff like that. I read the blurb on Hard Candy – I remember it coming out at the cinema and That Boy wanted to see it – I can’t remember if he went in the end – I might have to ask The Murf if he’s seen it and what he thinks of it. We then watched Equilibrium – I remember seeing it years ago and could just about remember the premise of the story.
I came home and realised that I’d left my phone, iPod and the other hammock bits at my Mum’s house! I went on Facebook when I got home and posted about how I might miss church because I don’t have an alarm clock (we have an alarm clock in the bedroom but it’s not loud enough to wake me up!)
Then this morning at about 20 to 9 the phone started ringing. I ignored it the first time figured that it was probably a sales call and decided to go back to sleep. The second time the phone rang I decided that it must be important and I had to get up and check it. I answered the phone and the lady at the other end said “Hi Hannah, it’s Beth”. I’m like I only know two Beths – both of which don’t have my number let alone my home number, I kinda go “oh hi” then the voice at the other end says “It’s Steph” well it was Steph Q – she’d seen my message about not having my phone, she’d then called someone at church for the number but they didn’t have it. I’m not quite sure how she ended up with it but we then had this conversation about making sure I was awake and that she’d see me at church lol.
That was the least of my worries this morning – I got to church and I plugged my phoen in to charge while I finished getting teas and coffees ready (or at least as much as you can before the service). The lady who was doing the class for the upper school kids came in and asked if That Boy was at church – I said that he wasn’t and her expression changes. Apparently That Boy had been volunteered or had volunteered to set up a DVD. I say thats okay let me finish here and I’ll come and set it up for you. Well then we had a problem – no laptop to run the DVD. I explain that I can go get my Mum’s laptop and set up, I figure that if I get the laptop I can get to Mum’s and back in about 20 minutes. I get to Mum’s and it’s got the wrong connector on it – can’t set it up with the projector so I decide I’ll come home for mine except – 1. Don’t know where my adapter thingy is to plug in the power point and 2. The DVD drive doesn’t work properly on my laptop. I grab That Boy’s laptop and head back to church. I managed to get the first clipped paused in the right place. (It was Beauty and the Beast and I wanted to stay to watch the clip).
So fast forward to the end of church and I go to clear up the laptop and projector – it all went fine was what I really wanted to hear but in the end it was that the first clip worked but the second didn’t have any audio (I had said to the other leader that if he was having trouble then he could come grab me as I would be in the service).
That was my weekend. Summarised into one post! I’m still working on the Gadget Show post because there is so much to include lol.

I’ve been to read your post and I commented 🙂

I loved it! I think Matt Smith is fab! Amy is still growing on me but I’m sure by the middle of the series or even the end of next weeks episode I will think she’s fab too!
