The Friday Read: No 1

The Friday Read

Your favourite author

I’m going to start this post with this – it’s kinda strange writing at my Mum’s Computer rather than my own. It’s almost 11pm on Thursday 14th July and I’m in the process of setting up my Brother’s old iPhone so that my Mum can trial it tomorrow before we go to look at a new phone for her. It’s a complicated matter that could take the 3ish hours that we have of later night shopping tomorrow evening to decide on a handset and even then we might not completely decide on one. So anyway iTunes is downloading and restoring firmware in the background – I was watching YouTube videos but that slowed down the connection so then I went downstairs and watched Torchwood in chunks. Now I’m here blogging, writing this post so that I don’t have to worry about it when I get home (hopefully not too much later!)

Today’s prompt for our new series entitled The Friday Read is “Your Favourite Author”. Now this is a bit of a challenge – I read allsorts and also a lot of varied books in the last month for example I’ve read Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowling, Virals by Kathy Reichs, (I started) The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien and I started Fatal Voyage by Kathy Reichs yesterday on the bus home from work. I would say that Kathy Reichs is one of my favourites – but then that is kinda morbid given that she writes about murder – then again I guess if I’d said that Agatha Christie was my favourite it could still be morbid as they are crime novels too (and often if not always involve murder).

Growing up, Enid Blyton was one of my favourites for absolutely years and years – I read the whole of the Malory Towers books and I’m pretty sure I read a chunk of the Secret Seven and Famous Five books. (I think at one point I actually wanted to be part of the Famous Five!).  I think I’d like to re-read some of the Enid Blyton books but at the same time I’m not sure if they’d appeal to my 25yo self like they appealed to my 13yo self who spent hours and hours in the library avoiding the bullies and the cold lol.

Whoop whoop the phone has finished updating which means it’s time to go explain to Mum and then go home to bed. ttfn all
