The Last Book You Read
I am the worst person for reading 2 or 3 books at once – I think the most I got to was 4 and then decided it was taking the mickey so I needed to finish at least two. A few weeks ago I was reading Fatal Voyage by Kathy Reichs and The Prayers of Agnes Sparrow by Joyce Magnin – not sure you could actually get two more extremes. Mum bought me both of these books – The Prayers of Agnes Sparrow was bought for me for my birthday and Fatal Voyage was found on a second hand book stand while she was on holiday in Wales a few weeks back so she got it for me.
I finished The Prayers of Agnes Sparrows on about the 27th July and then started The Last Christian by David Gregory the following day as well as reading Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin. Now I’m reading Game of Thrones, Labyrinth and The Church of Facebook – on and off all at the same time.
I’m with you here. I often have more than one book on the go. Mum is forever reminding me that when I was a kid, if I was bored with the books I had and couldn’t afford a new one, I used to line up about 7 books and read the 1st page of each, then the 2nd page of each and so on to make up my own stories about the characters from all of them!
hehe I don’t think I ever did that but every few Saturday my Dad would take me and my brother to the library and I’d get the maximum out (which was usually 10 books) and then I’d read them all in a week or two weeks before going to the library again. I think it’s only since I finished school that I read two or three fiction books at the same time – usually because I was balancing it with multiple texts for school.
