Ghosts of Girlfriends Past

Ghosts of Girlfriends Past
Yesterday I went to see this film. I saw the trailer for it a while back and added it to the list of films that I want to see – I nearly went to see it for my birthday but it didn’t come out till the 1st May so I couldn’t go see it for my birthday which is why we went to see I  Love You, Man which was also really really cool.

The film starts Matthew McConaughey as Connor Mead, Connor is a notorious photographer who has a bad boy reputation of loving beautiful woman and then dumping them when they fall in love with him.

Connor’s brother is about to get married and Connor is convinced that he is making a huge mistake. Connor and Paul share completely opposite opinions. Paul believes that marriage is a great thing and that him and his wife will be happy together whereas Connor is convinced that marriage is outdated.

This is where the parallels to A Christmas Carol come in, Uncle Wayne (played by Michael Douglas done up as a Hugh Hefner kind of character) arrives and warns him that three ghosts will visit him – and you get the rest. The ghosts show up in the form of his first intimate partner (they were sixteen-ish), his PA and then some mysterious angel looking character  (as the ghost of Girlfriends future).

They all try to work out where Connor became the cynical womaniser that he is in the present day.

I did enjoy the story but the trailer gave the idea that Jennifer Garner would have more of a part within the whole film – she seemed to only be half there.

In one of the flashbacks the girl who plays Garner’s younger self is the same girl that plays the 13-year old character in 13 Going On 30.

Overall I think I give it a 4 out of 5 somethings (Stars are so everyday and Angelika already stole the hearts lol!)
