Bloggers Wednesday: Becky

So following the accidental break for Christmas we’re back on track with Blogger’s Wednesday. I was ill most of December (and again last week) and blogging had to take a back seat for a little while.

I’m not sure how I found it but I found Becky’s blog and have been reading since.

What’s your name?
Becky Haycox

Study in red and green

Where do you live (country is fine)?
Southern California, United States of America

Where do you blog?
In bed, on my laptop.

What made you start blogging?
Initially to keep touch with my friends in San Francisco after I moved to Southern California (the first time). Then, in 2006, I wanted to chronicle my trip to the International Improv Fest in Seattle, and blogging became a habit after that. It was a lot easier to become a blogger when there were so many others out there.

How long have you been blogging? Has it always been in the same place?
I had a website when the internet was a baby — 1998. I sporadically posted things, but didn’t become a regular till ’06. Apart from a few months with Geocities at the beginning, I’ve had my own website since the beginning of 1999.

WordPress, Blogger or other?
Wordpress, installed on my own website. I like it! Yay, WordPress!

Do you have a day job or is blogging your main thing?
Writing is part of my job, but not blogging. I work as a multimedia producer and marketer for a nonprofit. I am all computers, all the time.

Do you have specific blogs that inspire you?
Evany‘s was one of the first blogs I started reading way back at the beginning of the century. She has a fantastic breezy, funny style that I’ve always admired. We’re real-life friends now, which is fab. Mimi Smartypants, another funny lady. Geek Crafts. Of course, there’s a huge roster of amazingly creative friends and associates who have blogs that I love. Not enough room to name them all!

Science Quilt!

If you could ask me one question (and I answer it) What would it be?
Hannah, what is your ultimate fantasy day? If money, logistics, reality and physics were no object, what would you do, eat, see? What would you wear, who would you be?

Piece of advice for bloggers out there?
Please don’t drop off the face of the (blogging) earth, especially without explanation. You owe it to your readers to warn them if you’re not going to post for a year. We’d much rather have you be realistic and post once a month (or less) regularly than to have you write lots, get us hooked, then disappear.
Also, try to stay away from fads. If everyone is posting pictures of precious little bird vignettes, or using the phrase “y’all” or getting all obsessed with zombies, how about being the original one in the pack and doing something different and unexpected?

So my answer to Becky’s Question is:

Hannah, what is your ultimate fantasy day? If money, logistics, reality and physics were no object, what would you do, eat, see? What would you wear, who would you be?

So physics is no option, therefore I can go anyway. I’d be in Australia at the beginning of March for Ruby and Branden’s wedding.

Then again ultimate fantasy day I would do so much lol. I’d probably like go to the US and do a road trip or something like that, Maybe start somewhere on the East Coast and head West. There are just so many places I want to visit that my day would be full before I’d even got out of New York or off the East Coast I think.

What would I wear – I think that would certainly depend on when I was travelling – I think I’d travel in Spring time that way it’s not too cold and not too hot so I can just drive in a t-shirt or stick a jumper on if it’s a bit chilly.

Who would I be? Well hopefully I would be myself lol.  If it’s meant to be who would I be with then I’d take Chris with me and maybe our housemate too if she wanted to come on the adventure lol. Does that answer the question?

Hey that’s me! Thanks for featuring my silliness, Han! I’ve so enjoyed your Blogger Wednesdays, such good questions. And your answer to mine was just great.

BTW that second picture is me wrapped in my Science Quilt — offbeat quilting is something I do.

You’re the best and someday I’ll see you on that US road trip! xoxo B
