Today it’s Friday and it’s a bit of a crazy day. By the time I got in from WI last night via the supermarket and then had some food it was heading towards 11pm. I then woke up around 2:30am in a panic thinking that I had missed my alarm and the lift from my Mum. When I woke up and it was still dark I checked my phone and realised that I was okay and I wasn’t late!
I fell asleep again pretty quickly and then woke up with my alarm at 6:45am. I was still shattered but I’m kind of getting used to the feeling at the moment – hopefully I will either get used to it or get over it lol.
I got to the train station and thought my train left at 7:58 but that was actually a First Capital Connect service so I had a look for the closest East Midlands service as they only have one or two stops around Luton and then straight through to London St. Pancras. I got on what should have been the 7:55 service but it was running late – it was expected at 8:02 at one point but then caught up time and pulled in dead on 8am.
I got into London about 8:40 and was having a panic as I needed to be at the new BBC Broadcasting House around 9ish – we had to be there at 9:30 to start our duty at 10am. It was lovely to see everyone again, got so many hugs from the ladies and gents who help out. It’s like seeing old friends – some of us only chat on Facebook and see each other in person for this event.
This morning seemed to go really quickly even though at some points it was really quiet on the phones. This year we were in New Broadcasting House rather than being in Western House round the corner where we’ve been in past years. Radio 2 itself is in Western house whereas Radio 1 is in New Broadcasting house so we actually had visitors from there as well. I got to meet Scott Mills, Ken Bruce, Lynn Bowles, Jeremy Vine and Chris Evans. Some of them I have met in the past and some were new meetings. Then again I’m sure they meet so many people that I was a just a blur in the crowd lol. It was nice to meet Scott Mills, he shook my hand and made time to have a proper chat (then again some of the ladies I was sat with didn’t know who he was until I told them – well he plays for the wrong team when it comes to our love for radio stations!). Sara Cox was also lovely. One of the ladies will us had a knitted or crocheted flower brooch above her name badge and Sara commented how lovely it was.
These are just some of the pictures I snapped. As I walked through St Pancras in the morning I spotted all these “themed” Pudsey bears. I didn’t have time to snap a picture in the morning but on the way back through I managed to snap some pictures.
I love the Coldplay one and the Wogan one. (2nd one and last one). I had a lovely day in London with all the Bloggers and had a lovely time at Radio 2. The team at Radio 2 who look after us each time are so welcoming and caring while we are there.
Love it! What a brilliant day you had and what a fabulous thing you do!
