The One About My Future

I like my job. At least what I do day to day I like, the whole sitting in front of a computer and stuff is cool and being asked for my help makes me feel needed and stuff like that. But this job isn’t for me – it’s not where I’m meant to be. I like the computer stuff but I get stir crazy sat behind the same desk looking at the same screen. But where am I meant to be. What am I meant to do. I applied to do Children’s Work in Cambridge (starting in September) but was turned down because I didn’t have enough experience so they said to go away and work on my experience this year and then reapply next year if I’d like, which seems like a good idea but the more I think about it and think about what I can do the less I want to do it – how does that work??

I nearly always have my head in a book. At the moment I am part way through Bare Bones by Kathy Reichs and I’ve started Revelation by C. J. Sansom. The amount I read kinda points me towards doing writing or working in a book shop or library. But then again a library is so quiet I think I’d be scared to breathe just in case it distracted someone – Bedford has two libraries and I think I’d prefer the town library because there would be stuff to do in my lunch break but then again don’t you need a degree in English Lit or something like that to be a good librarian. (Which unfortunately I didn’t get lol – However I pose the question – is it necessary I have a Performing Arts degree which shows that I can “think” to a degree level).

I decided that rather than continuing to read fiction all the time I would try and read more informative books about the world around me and stuff like that. I had a look for an Anthropology book in the book store in MK (while I waited for the Shopaholic to arrive before we went to the cinema) but they just had Politics, Sociology and Philosophy – all of which I guess have a little bit of influence on Anthropology but not the bits I want.

Then again I am a film geek but somehow that doesn’t constituted working in the cinema – I interviewed for a job there when I finished uni but they didn’t want me (actually it could have been before that!). I’m not really sure why they didn’t want me but there you go.

Me and my friend were discussing how I was going to go about achieving something of note (I’m probably not explaining very well!) but I have no idea what I want to do.

I can think of a whole bunch of stuff I would like to do but I have responsibilities with things like paying rent and stuff like that.
