Manners

I just nipped out in my lunch break to run some errands – like post Swap-Bot stuff and some eBay bits.

On my way back into work I followed a lad in he swiped his badge to open the door and I said thanks. He then didn’t realise I was behind him so he just walked through the next door but carried on walking – when he realised the door hadn’t close he turned round and spotted me and apologised for not holding the door open for me and said that he’s normally more of a gentleman! I was gobsmacked!

I abandoned my bits and went to the canteen to grab a sandwich, on my way in he was on his way so I opened the door for him and he was very polite and said thank you!

Again so many people just walk through the door and don’t say anything. Don’t know who he was but for someone to apologise for not holding the door open is fab!

New-ness!

So if you managed to find me you’ll see that I have my own URL now 🙂 and that my blog was down yesterday 🙁

I had exceeded my bandwidth on the original address so I decided that it was time to move and host myself (i still don’t know how to do updates and plug-ins!)

I have to work now but later I will be back with a catch up for Her Space My Space His Space.

Middle of Night Posting

Now I’m sure this isn’t good and that I should be sleeping but I’m some how hoping that this post will help calm my brain long enough to sleep.

Blog people out there who may be Reading this (if you’re in America. You have time before bed to read and comment!!!)

If you have kids (aka dinkies) how did you know it was right to start trying for dinkies? Or did dinkie one arrive in the scene and that started the ball rolling?

Me and CJ seem to spend ages skirting round the subject and when we do talk about it I end up in tears feeling rubbish and don’t wanna to get out of bed the following morning in case some one asks me what is up.

So church peeps I am not back sliding if I’m not there in the morning it’s because it’s 2:34am I feel like rubbish and CJ is asleep next to me.

I get that stuff at church atm is uncertain but life is permanently uncertain!!

I am going to try going to sleep and hope that baby filled nightmares don’t attack me.

Self Portrait

So yesterday I borrowed my Dad’s Tripod and got to use it today. I’ve been playing this evening and managed to take some self portraits – quite a lot came out yellow because I hadn’t got the white balance set right. Here’s one of the good ones.

75 Questions: Part Four

46. What one thing would you most like to achieve by the end of this year?

Create and complete my photography portfolio.

47. What’s your favourite scent?

Fresh bread or cookies

48. Who’s your favourite family member?

That’s hard and kinda bias!! I think my Mum or Dad might be somewhere in top 5 hehe. CJ would also be up there.

49. If you could travel through time, which era would you most like to go to? (it could be in the past or future)

50. If you could go back in time and give one piece of advice to yourself as a child, what would that advice be?

At Middle School and Upper School listen to Kerry – she makes a whole lot of sense.

51. What would you most like to learn to do?

Speak German or French. I am getting more interested in learning something like Japanese Dutch or Finnish. However German or French would be beneficial for my job. (But we do have a supplier in Holland so Dutch could be good)

52. What are your hopes for 2009?

53. Do you keep a diary/journal?

I try to but I struggle with the commit and knowing what to write – I get a bit downhearted of sorts and think why I am writing this – it’s not like anyone is going to read it – but then again sometimes it is good to vent in words because then you feel like it’s escaping and you’re not bottling up that emotion.

54. What’s been your favourite swap on Swap-Bot so far?

Can I pick one I hosted myself? There was birthday swap in April and I had a newbie for a partner but I’d recommend her anyday she was amazing! She told me the parcel was on it’s way and who she sent it with and when she expected it to be here. When it got here I actually had to go next door and collect it because they couldn’t get the package through the door – I went next door and collected the box and realised why they couldn’t get it through the door – The box was rather large and I struggled to carry it and open the door when I got home! I was really over whelmed by this present for my birthday – there were so many bits and pieces in the the box.

55. What’s your favourite colour?

Hey it doesn’t count if you ask the same question twice!
56. What’s your favourite time of year?

I think late spring where it’s just becoming summer or early autumn when its just going cold again.

57. What’s your favourite kind of weather?

I like snow but we have it so rarely here in Bedford that I don’t really have any snow appropriate clothing!

58. Who was your first love?

How do you define first love? There was my first kiss and the first time I said “I love you” and had it reciprocated. I guess my proper relationship that I knew was different from others was back at Upper School. I won’t say his name as this blog is feed directly to Facebook and I don’t want to embarrass him. He was really sweet and he was a christian – my friends used to take the mickey out of him because sometimes he could be a little on the immature side – I think this was partly why we got along because we could mess about and have a laugh but he was quite grown up when he needed to be. We were together 6 months – after we split up he then went out with two of my other friends (one was younger than me by 6 months and the other was older than me by 6 months). I was ok with it at the time but there was one point that I had grown fond of this boy again and wanted to see him happy (his girlfriend at the time wasn’t being exactly very nice to him). He became one of my best friends – I guess by having that relationship in our teens we knew that we could trust each other and that any pain then is settled now.

He’s now still single as far as I know and I would love to see him happy – he’s a chef and I think (then again I could be biased!) he could be the next Jamie Oliver or Gordon Ramsey (minus the swearing) he just needs that break to get out of the kitchen here in Bedford and find that position elsewhere where he can get noticed!

59. What’s your favourite memory from your childhood?

I briefly remember cuddling my brother at the local park on a picnic blanket while my Mum took a photo but I can’t place whether this is earlier than me falling out the door or not.

My favourite memory would have probably been spending the two or three days each summer at my Grandma’s it wasn’t much but it meant that when my brother had his two or three days I would have Mum to myself during the days and then hang out with my Dad when he got back from work.

60. What was your favourite subject at school?

This is a hard question – I used to love Maths but then there was this period of time where I had to repeat the same work over and over because the teachers wouldn’t set me any harder work so I guess that kinda put me off Maths.

I loved Music but again being a musician in a music class was ok but too easy – My teacher at middle school was able to give me extra bits and pieces to do but it wasn’t the same.

61. What’s the most useful thing you’ve ever learnt?

How to use a computer probably I use one every day in some way shape or form – I am trying to improve my handwriting again as it’s got really messy as I am out of practice I use my computer way too much. I love the diary feature on my phone because it’s good for planning but i prefer the physical act of writing something down and being able not to have to put in set times etc.

62. If you could be remembered for one thing, what would it be?

I don’t know really I’d like to say my Musical ability but I’m not really that good in comparsion to some of the musicians out there – I guess though I am still in my Twenties and so I might develop some talent when I’m older that is just fab and makes me amazing hehe.

I think one of the things is that when I do have kids down the way I’d like to be remembered for being a good Mum and taking care of my kid(s).

63. Who would you most like to receive a letter from?

At the moment I’d like to receive from Kewey. I called her on Friday as I left work because I finished early and really missed her (I wished she lived in Bedford or at least we lived closer than an hour or more away).

64. Of all the people you’ve lost touch with over the years, who would you most like to get back in touch with?

Emily Coleman. She was one of my friends at lower school and she came to the same middle school as me but for some reason at short notice she had to pack up and move school. She used to live round the corner from my parents house and occasionally I would see her but then I stopped seeing her. Occasionally I see if i can find her on Facebook but I only have a blurry memory of what she looked like. I remember that she had short brown hair kinda a bob but not (lol) I think she had freckles and she was quite skinny – she was quite good at running.

65. What’s your favourite recipe?

Fairy Cakes but also pasta salad.

My pasta salad I make is simple but yummy and good for BBQs. You boil up as much pasta as you need I usually do about 400g. You then chop up two or three peppers – I go for a red, yellow and green so that you’ve got lots of colour. I then chop up a couple of pepperami (they are snack versions of salami/pepperoni like you get on pizza).

When the pasta is cold you mix the pepperami and peppers into the pasta and add a dollop of mayo (to taste) in and serve. It’s lovely! If theres some left over it works well for pack lunches too.

66. What time did you wake up this morning?

This morning I woke up about 9:30 I think. I spend ages in bed this morning reading – I just didnt want to get out of bed lol

67. Which period of history are you most interested in?

Ancient Egyptians, Romans and Greeks or Tudors.
68. What was your favourite subject at school?

Again with the repeating questions!

69. When were you the happiest you’ve ever been?
70. What’s the biggest surprise (good or bad) that you’ve ever had?
71. Describe yourself in three words?
72. What’s the last DVD you bought?
73. What’s the last CD you bought?
74. Imagine your dream dinner party: which nine people would you invite to join you? (They can be from history or current times, famous or not)

75. What question do you wish I’d asked on this list, and what would your answer be?
EDIT: I promise I will be back to finish the rest of the questions but I need to get some shut eye so that tomorrow afternoon I can finish my talk for next week end – I need a couple of run throughs and I need to finish my presentation to go with it!

75 Questions: Part One

As you know I am a member of Swap-Bot and I love doing swaps because I get in touch with so many like minded people across the world.

Yesterday I got in from work and had a letter from Hanfmuk. I wanted to put in a link her to her blog or something to show her love but I couldn’t find a link to it so her Swap-Bot profile can have some love instead.

The swap was to write a survey of 75 Questions and send it to your two partners. I sent to PenguinBurger and dreamweaver. PenguinBurger has a blog which can be found here.

Choir

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Yes ladies and gents of the blogsphere!

My idea was accepted and I am kinda in charge of the Christmas choir!!!!!!! ARGH!!!!!

Musical Background

So earlier I wrote about music and Carol’s post at Bass-ically Speaking about Band Practices now I am following my earlier post by writing about my musical background.

I think it started in utero as my Mum tells me how her and My Aunt went to see Cats in London when she was pregnant with me and my Aunt was pregnant with my cousin David.

I probably started singing about the time that I could talk.

When it came to musical instruments I started playing the recorder like lots of people do. Then at about the age of 9 when I moved up to Year 5 and started Middle school I started learning the flute, I also startedKeyboard lessons. I could kinda already play a bit of piano as my Grandma plays the organ (not one of the massive pipe organs – just a little one like a Keyboard sort of thing).

By about Year 6 or 7 I’d learnt the Treble recorder (3rd one down) (kinda by accident in a way – my teacher asked could anyone play it and I said yes even though I couldn’t so had to learn it at high speed lol)

Recorders

Recorders

While I was at Middle School I started going to SMMS (Saturday Morning Music School) where I played in the Orchestra and sang in the choir. I also joined a recorder group where I would learn to play the Bass recorder (top one in the picture). By the end of Middle School I owned a Sopranino (the smallest) Descant and Treble and I could play all five.
There was a group of five or six of us in Year 8 who received extra music tuition of sorts from our music teacher as we were all musicians and could play to a certain level. I played in pretty much every group apart from the String group – because I didn’t play a string instrument!
When I got to Upper School I taught myself Acoustic Guitar and started to play my Mum’s guitar. One Christmas i asked for a guitar of my own and I got a blue Fender Squire Strat. It was my baby! I lent it to my friend one break time and it came back with a small chip in it and I freaked out at him and didn’t talk to him for like a week (poor boy!)
I moved to Upper School and although I had lost two of my closest friends because they went to other schools, that wasn’t going to stop me! As soon as possible I was having flute lessons again, I also started singing lessons but I had to share my lessons and I didn’t really get on with the person I was sharing with (she was a good friend but when it came to singing lessons she became a bit of a meany). So I gave up the singing lessons – but I didn’t stop singing I was in the choir and orchestra amongst other groups. In year 10 when it came to my GCSE’s I wanted to drama and music but because of how the choices work I couldn’t do both and so I had to do Expressive Arts.

This is the end of part 1 but I will be back with Part Two as I might have some exciting news later – fingers crossed!!!!

Nim’s Island

For ages I’ve been wanting to see this film. I kept seeing the adverts and then some how never got to see it. It’s been on the “On Demand” services from our TV supplier for awhile and I keep passing it up for other films. I decided I wanted to watch it yesterday when it appeared on Sky Box Office when I was at my parents.

I loved this film! It was sooooo cool! Abigail Breslin is fab! I think she’s great in Little Miss Sunshine and Definitely, Maybe.

Gerard Butler stars as both Alex Rover (from the book) and Nim’s Dad. The story at the beginning about where Nim’s Mum is clear (but I was in the loo so I missed it! lol)

I recommend this film! It’s a bit of a kiddie film but I’m 22 and still love kids films because they are all about the happy ending or the fairy tale rather than blood guts and gore and a sad ending.

Music

I sat at work today considering what to write about when I got home.

Thanks to Angelika I found the blog of Carol which is called Bass-iscally Speaking. She’s a musician (specifically a guitarist from Texas, USA.

She writes about stuff for musicians rather than just about bands etc. How cool! (and this is why she rocks!)

Her recent post that I read earlier was about band practices and bringing songs to the table to discuss them. In her words…..

Each member brings 10 songs they would like to do to the table.  The band’s leader (please tell me you have a leader…it can be the guy whose house you rehearse in, or the frontman…somebody, okay?)  compiles all the songs onto one sheet, mixing them up a little so members aren’t always certain who submitted what.  (That way the drummer doesn’t leave a song on the list just to avoid upsetting the bassist or something. It’s never good to have your rhythm section planning each others’ assassinations, right?)

The compiled list of song titles is passed around the table a pre-determined number of times.  So, if there are five members in the band, you’ll start out with 50 songs.  Let’s say the goal is to whittle the list to 20 songs.  You need to nuke 30 titles, so send the list around 6 times.  (Woah. That was a lot of math.  ouch.)

Each time the list goes around the table, each person crosses off one song.  If they’re smart, it will be the song they would most hate to play. You may need to fill your drummer in on this little tidbit.

When everyone’s done, the most hated songs will be off the list, so it is safe to assume only the favorites and those that nobody really minds playing all that much are still standing.

The band starts learning those songs.

I love this idea! We spend so much time commenting about the songs that we don’t like but never do anything about it so maybe I need to suggest this idea to the people in the band that I’m in.

I was going to include some info about my musical background and the instruments I play but I will need to do that in my next post as I am supposed to be at a meeting in 15 minutes at church!

Ooh! Exciting

So three more comments and I will have 600 comments – that is genuine comments rather than Spam!

Thank you to Paper Kitty who introduced me to Subu Rose who also has a blog here.

Well Subu Rose are having a giveaway of one of Paper Kitty’s Handmade books. (which can also be purchased here)

Peeks of Aqua by The Crafty Kitten

Peeks of Aqua by The Crafty Kitten

I love it!!!!!!! (HINT: this would be fab for Christmas!!!!!! Think green and buy handmade for Christmas where possible!)

EDIT: ok so that was weird – i either lost lots of comments or didnt have those comments in the first place 🙁

Oh well!

A Him-him (Rather than a Meme!)

I stole this from Popping Bubbles.

What is his name? Chris (aka CJ)

Who eats more? Me actually I think!!

Who said I love you first? I’m not sure I think I scared CJ – I know I didn’t want to say it till I knew it was right – so it could have been me.

Who is taller? Depends what shoes are being worn – he is usually taller but only by a little bit.

Who drives most when you are together? I do, Mainly because it saves stress when it comes to adjusting the chair as I drive the most anyway.

Who’s more sensitive? Me!

Who does the laundry? Chris, unless I am short of clothes then I do it.
Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? Depends standing at the foot or the head of the bed – I’m on the right from the foot.

Who pays the bills? Depends what the bills are for I think I pay the most though.

Who cooks more? Chris – fairy cakes or pasta are about my limit!

Who is more stubborn? Again depends.

Who is the first to admit they are wrong? Me which usually means I say I’m sorry he says “It’s ok” and never apologises for being mean

Who has more siblings? We are even I have one brother he has one sister.

Who wears the pants? I’d like to say we are equal but I think he wears slightly more.

What do you like to do together? I like to watch films but CJ likes to go for walks (I don’t like the outside!)

Who eats more sweets? Me, he is often like health freak and makes me eat my 5-a-day.

Guilty pleasures? His guilty pleasures or mine? He likes playing Age of Empries which I used to like but don’t really get on with.

How did you meet? This is a long one – can I come back to it?

Who asked whom out first? Me – well if it had been up to him the first time round we’d still be friends.

Who kissed first? Me, as I said I think Chris was scared of me!

Who proposed? He did….he wrote a treasure hunt that ended at my Grandparents house, with an audience of my parents, my grandparents and my two best friends.

His best features and qualities? Erm, he is a techie, if you want disco lights he rocks, he redesigned my blog for me and although it took him like 3 months he got there in the end – mainly because it was ammo in every falling out so it was apology design.

NaNoWriMo

NaNoWriMo Participant 2008

Am I nuts?

So am I actually nuts? In some moment of insanity I signed up for NaNoWriMo 2008 and hopefully I will get further than last year!
This year I won’t have a crashing computer and an over heating laptop hopefully. This year however I have a job whereas last year I didn’t. As I write this I have to start thinking of ideas and how I am going to attack this!

I’ll probably do like I did last year with a target sheet and a target of how many words I need to write a day – Hopefully I can actually stick to this as 50,000 words is a lot! I don’t think I even wrote that much for my Dissertation last year.

So I have to keep editing this post because my blog is having a weird moment and keeps messing up the format because theres not quite enough text to make the formatting sit properly!!!

I am in the process of making fairy cakes for 24/7 Aftershock – little worried that there won’t be enough! I do however have a bar of Dairy Milk which I can share with anyone who doesn’t get a fairy cake!

Samson

Total random song to get stuck in my head but it’s there. Samson by Regina Spektor

You are my sweetest downfall
I loved you first
Beneath the sheets of paper lies my truth
I have to go
Your hair was long when we first met

Samson went back to bed
Not much hair left on his head
Ate a slice of wonder bread and
Went right back to bed
And the history books forgot about us
And the bible didn’t mention us
Not even once

You are my sweetest downfall
I loved you first
Beneath the stars came falling on our heads
But they’re just old light
Your hair was long when we first met

Samson came to my bed
Told me that my hair was red
Told me i was beautiful and
Came into my bed
Oh i cut his hair myself one night
A pair of dull scissors in the yellow light
And he told me that i’d done alright
And kissed me till the morning light

Samson went back to bed
Not much hair left on his head
Ate a slice of wonder bread and
Went right back to bed
Oh we couldn’t bring the columns down
Yeah we couldn’t destroy a single one
And the history books forgot about us
And the bible didn’t mention us
Not even once

You are my sweetest downfall
I loved you first

Monday – Can I go HOME? NOW????

So last week my Manager (HT) was on holiday, so between me and my other coleague we were covering HT’s work. She was supposed to be back today but she caught a bug on the flight back from Italy (apparently everyone on the plane went down with this fluey cold thing) so she’s got today and tomorrow off as sick. I’m working to get as many orders done before i leave for the day but i am kinda behind. I was handling it and was ok till I got some idiot customer call up and give me a full blown earful!

I tried to explain that I had been very busy and that i was waiting on a response from The Queen of Knowledge in the US (who had been in the office less than 2 hours when he was on the phone) but he didnt want none of it and i lost it – asked him to excuse me while I pulled myself together took a deep breathe fought my corner and finished the call and then have just tried to get him a response while i feel like getting up and going home.

I’ve had a bit of a cry but can’t let rip properly because The Big Cheif is here so I just shed a few tears and am now talking about films to Chatty Ali so that’s not so bad – Happy Go Lucky is topic of conversation!

Food

My Mum tells me the story of how when I was little I didn’t eat – I just kinda stopped for a little while and then started again.

Anyway I’ve kinda used that as my reason to love food. After all I’m kinda catching up. For years if anything I was underweight I think I was between 4 and 6 stone till I was about 13 and now at 22 I’m about 11 stone. Now yeah ok thats a little overweight for my height but it’s not doing me any major damage at the moment so do I really need to overly spazz about my weight, the food I eat or the way I look.

So CJ and me went to the supermarket and it was fine till we got home.

On Saturday while I was in Sheffield my left knee seized up and when I managed to put weight on it my leg gave way completely. I told CJ about this yesterday and he’s now on another power crusade about the food I eat and whether I’m getting enough vitamins and minerals.

When I was younger my Mum had problems with her knees and when I had a growth spurt I had problems with my knees – again I’m not worried. On Saturday I’d been driving lots so I just put it down to the fact that my knee was relaxing and calming down having been over exercised.

Maybe it’s just me!

I am probably going to take the shoes back and get them exchanged as even in different socks and no socks my little toe is still getting squished. I’m off to try tights before I go to bed if they don’t work then I’m going to take the shoes back – I am probably going to go for heels again just need to make sure that they are comfy.

My Radical Choice – New Shoes

It’s not a major radical but it is for me. Earlier I decided that as my “ballet” shoes that I wear for work most days are falling apart I decided that I was going to buy some grown-up new shoes.

I went to Brantano over at Interchange where I bought my last few pairs of work shoes or school shoes when I’ve needed smart shoes. There were lots of pretty shoes. There was a very nice pair that were navy with pink polka dots on them. As pretty as they were, that would really be a radical choice for me I think!

My Mum thought it was different but she knew it was because I wanted to look more grown up and smart for work – after all even though trainers and ballet shoes are comfy they aren’t exactly smart!

I got home and Chris was too busy taking the mickey out of me because my choice was out of character.

I’m two minds whether to take the shoes back and exchange them or to just wear them anyway. I would probably end up going with the first option although part of me wants to prove a point.

Maybe I should resort to black trainers or something like that. My bootleg/flare trousers are that wide that my shoes are often hidden anyway.

YWAM Harpenden

So today we’ve been to YWAM Harpenden.

For those of you who don’t know YWAM stands for youth with a mission. They have bases nearly all over the world and my local is at Harpenden – just past Luton Airport.

So we came down for the Apple Festival. There’s various bits and pieces like a bouncy castle and a game of twister. Then in the orchard there’s people climbing trees and now Lambkin and The Murf are playing hide and seek.

Will write some more later but here we have a photo for now.

Catch Up Part One

So I have missed out quite alot of HerSpace-MySpace photos.

They aren’t in order though – just dates and pictures.

Gate and Enter – 1st September and 4th September

Enter and Gate

I walk past this substation nearly everyday on the way to and from the warehouse to the office.

Romantic – 2nd September

Romantic

I was babysitting last week and this card was on the mantelpiece. Mrs C is starting her Make-up course in the next few weeks and this was her really sweet good luck card from her Hubby – it was seriously sweet!!!!!

Point – 5th September

Point

Originally this was Poke but now it’s Point hehe.

Sweet – 8th September

Sweet

It was my Manager’s birthday on Sunday so we had cake this week at work.

Bag Lady – 10th September

Bags1. Navy Messenger Bag, 2. Eastpak Messenger Bag, 3. Jansport Rucksack, 4. H and M Black Bag, 5. Head Drawstring Bag6. Not available
I keep meaning to put these on eBay

I suck today :(

So I have this friend, and she’s seriously cool – I’d give up everything possible to be at her birthday celebrations next week end.

She wants to go clubbing in sheffield – which ain’t my cuppa but its her birthday so I can get over it for her because I KNOW that what ever I picked (within reason) she’d be there at my side doing it.

Except I suck, I used to be super organised.

I knew when every lecture was and where it was.

I knew the timetable back to front and probably upside down.

If we were lost I knew the way out of the mess.

I can regurgitate useless information till I am blue in the face.

I can tell you lots of info

Except one of the first dates I write in my diary and I still manage to screw up.

So this is the story, this friend is having her birthday on the 27th September – the same day every year for the last 24 years you’d think i’d remember that even though i’ve only know her for 4 of those.

She’s amazing and so understanding about everything but I am a total spazz.

We kinda made semi plans – they weren’t in concrete yet but i got all confused on dates and said yes to singing in a band gig thingy at a church in Cardington.

That wasn’t a problem I was going to travel up on the Saturday morning spend the day and then travel back for the concert it wasnt a problem.

Then yesterday CJ gives me this opportunity and I say yes – after all I’m going up and coming back on Saturday so it shouldn’t be a problem.

CJ wants me to play camera-girlie and do some editing stuff (The youth meeting is a new thing starting this academic year. Friday evening is based on reality so like in a Big Brother kinda stylee we’re going to have a diary room on the way into the meeting)

The original plan was that our friend would be hanging out with her folks that Friday night and so again wasn’t a problem.

However it all got changed this morning so that we (me and two friends) could go up and go clubbing in Sheffield on the Friday then stay over and do stuff Saturday and then me and two friends can drive back to Bedford for me to be at the concert at 6ish and I thought thats okay I can go with the plans still because it doesnt clash except it all does and I have massive dilemmas in front of me.

Now I have no idea what to do – the video thing is cool because i can do filming and editing and add another string to my bow, but I said that I would give LB a lift to Mansfield so now she’s like stranded and can only go up Saturday morning which stuffs up the plans.

I don’t want to let our friend down but then I also don’t want to let CJ down. I am working on a solution but I’m not sure how viable it will be.

I feel all like knotted up inside because I’m being dragged like 4 different directions and as much as I try and straighten stuff out and untangle the knots I get in more of a tangle.

BTW IF you are a Her Space My Space peep I am working on the photographs to catch up as I’ve missed like two weeks – I just need to track down my sheet of the ones I am missing 🙁

What a cool job!

I wish this was based in the UK i’d so go for it! California is a bit far to commute from Bedford. 5371 Miles too far hehe

Where were you?

What were you doing when?

Thanks to Judy for this Meme. I wasn’t actually tagged – I just borrowed the meme

Five events and the opportunity to record the impact they had on you:

Princess Diana’s death – 31 August 1997

I was 11, it was getting to the end of the school holidays and we were about to go back and start year 7. I’d just had the most rubbish year at school and was looking forward to a new form group and a new start. I don’t remember that much about it just that there was this accident and Princess Di died and that it was all over the papers and the news and stuff like that. I guess I was a bit young to know how much it had affected people.

Margaret Thatcher’s resignation – 22 November 1990

I was 4 ish so Rainbow was more my thing rather than politics lol.

Attack on the twin towers – 11 September 2001

I was 15. I was in Year 11 at school we’d been back about a week maybe even less than that. I remember that day cos it was a Tuesday and I went to my Grandma’s after school. I’d been to talk to my teacher after the lesson and the other music teacher walked into the classroom and said something like “the twins have fallen” – I wasn’t really paying attention – she could have been talking about Big Brother for all I knew lol.

My Mum picked me up and my cousin had come with my Mum to pick me up from school – so we had music on in the car rather than the news.
We got to Grandma’s and my Aunt was just stood like frozen in the middle of the conservatory staring at the TV – my grandma had got BBC news on and they just kept playing the same few bits of footage.

If you read Judy’s post at her blog she comments about where she was during the London Bombings. I was at home that day, my friend texted me and asked had I seen the news, I said that “No I’m asleep enjoying uni holidays”. He said I needed to get up and put it on – so I did. I then rang like 5 of my uni friends who lived in London or who might have gone up for the day. I left a rather garbled message on my friends answerphone – she was on a course in Poole! (Thats like the south coast – bottom right hand corner!)

England’s World Cup semi final v Germany – 4 July 1990

Again 4ish – I didn’t get into and back out of football until my teenage years.

President Kennedy’s Assassination – 22 November 1963

I wasn’t even a twinkle in 1963. My Mum would have just celebrated her 1st birthday as she was born August 1962. My grandparents probably have more chance of remembering it hehe.

Gustav

So those of you reading my blog and are in the States are already aware of this and whats going on. But to my readers here in the UK on Facebook and here at my Blog.
(I took the picture out as the picture from the BBC was updating itself and kept changing!)

So the big cloud blocking out Cuba is Hurricane Gustav. At present this is a Category 4 storm which is apparently one below Category 5 which is the most destructive. A category 5 storm has winds equal to or greater that 70mph – thats the speed at which most people go at down the Motorway in the UK.

The scale that the Meterologists and Storm Chasers etc measure storms by is called the Saffir-Simpson Scale. I tried to copy and paste but was having trouble with it lol so here is a link. This will take you to the Wikipedia site about the Hurricane Scale.

On the picture from the lovely people at BBC Weather the cloudy blob to the right of Gustav is what could change into Hurricane Hanna. I also read earlier in the week that the names only change if it’s really memorable.

(Just in case you are like me and have to read it every few years so I remember why) Hurricanes are given names so that the nice people at the National Hurricane Center in the States can track storms as they move over the ocean and then unfortunately onto land which can cause the most damage.

Often the storms are refered to as “Tropical Storm 4” or something like that until it becomes big enough and then they change the number for a name. They start at A and work through to Y (minus Q, U and Z). That all started in 1953 (apparently) by the U.S. National Weather Service and they started with female names for storms (which Chris thinks is great that the next one is Hurricane Hanna as he can use it as a new nickname or something!)

By the late Seventies it was changed that women and mens names would be used.

The World Meterological Organization uses six lists in rotation. The same lists are reused every six years. (So if Hanna doesn’t cause a massive problem it’ll reappear in 2014 – I’ll be 28 – scary!!!!!!) The only time a new name is added is if a hurricane is very deadly or costly – for example Katrina will have been removed from the list three years ago and a new name will have been added to the list.

I need to go to bed now but I am going to try and add an update tomorrow morning/afternoon.

Please be praying for the families that have had to evacuate and please pray for the guys and girlies at groups like The Red Cross who are going to be organising relief for those who are displaced and those who are affected.

Please pray for the police and fire services who will be looking out for people as well.

My parents have got friend who live in Florida – as far as we know they are over here in the UK at the moment but we think they might be in Florida.

Hugs to all. 🙂 ok that smiley face is like evil!!!!!

Do I really look like that?

So those of you who follow me on Twitter, Facebook or Plurk will have seen my micro-blog posts on my way round Asda this evening with Chris.

We went on a hut for a little bin to put in the bathroom – we didn’t want a proper bin because they are too big. Mr J. suggested looking round the baby section – after all there might be like a little bin for nappies that we could put in the bathroom. So as we’re walking down the baby aisle Mr J. just stops at the end of the aisle – I saw this as that it was pointless us both walking down the aisle to look for the bin. When I got back to him his comment was of embarrassment like he didn’t want to walk down the baby aisle with me because I look pregnant.

I would have probably just shook it off but after how I was feeling last week at Grapevine it just cut really deep. I was camping with the RP lot and was next door to Mr and Mrs W. and across the way from Pastor Mow Mow. Between them there are three kids from 3 months up to 7 years – and I felt broody now this could have just been because I felt a bit lonely but it’s also cos one day I’d like kids but not yet.

Now I am cuddly – this hasn’t really bothered me but if I look like I’m pregnant and thats coming from my Husband – what do other people think of me?

I have tried diets but I am scared I will end up like people I know who have eating disorders or on permanent diets. I used to go to the gym but I feel out of place as often there are skinny people running next to me.

CJ made various other comments on the way round the supermarket and all I wanted to do was cry – I wanted to curl up there in the toilet roll aisle and cry.

I come from a cuddly gene pool. My Mum is cuddly, My Grandma (her Mum) is cuddly, GreatGrandma B (Mum’s Paternal Grandma) was cuddly.

Band Practice

Hello

So today was back to work and I hated it I wish I’d had more time away or something.

Ms T was a litttle unbearable and just wasn’t helpful – she spent like all day ignoring me – so helpful!

So now I’m at Band Practice and janet and mum are rabitting on about Janetd holiday.

Gtg be back soon

Han

Grapevine

It’s Tuesday and tomorrow I go back to the normal day job, but for now I am still on holiday for another few hours hehe.

I leave the site in about 15 minutes after I do my 3pm News Bulletin on Grapevine FM. I’ve had a great time this weekend and have loved doing the news but the news is kinda depressing – the stories that have been interesting me have been thinks like the Olympics and Barack Obama.

I will back from my home post code later!

Poorly Wellies

Dead Wellies

This time last year before Grapevine I went on a mad hunt for some new wellies – I really struggled to find any as it had been very wet!!!!

I put my wellies on yesterday and they were fine but since then the 3 holes have got bigger and bigger 0 there is a split along the side that is about two and a half long 🙁

I’ve also noticed this morning that I have another hole forming near the back.

Currently I am sat in the radio station newsroom getting ready for the 1pm news – there is a lady talking about jewellery, her company is called Silverfish (might go have a look later not that I can afford any lol.

Grapevine pt 2

I swear people from church feel that they need to know your business – if one more person asks me “Where is Mr J?” “Is Mr J around?” I will actually scream at someone. He is still at Soul
survivor which means I won’t see him till Tuesday.

There’s no one my age from my church (I mean in the sense of 18-25). There’s a member of the youth but he’s like 12 (8 year other than that there’s Mr and Mrs W who are 30ish (8 years more). Also quite a few of the familes have got kids and it’s really hard at the moment. My mum was a parent aged 24 and Grandma had mum at 26. I know there is so much to achieve first but I look around and so many people have got babies or young children.

Anyhoo not the point I miss my family, I have mine and Mr J’s 6/8 man tent (i dont remember) to myself!!! It’s kinda scary!!!

I am now reading a book called Tortured For Christ by Richard Wurmbrand. Ant who comes to RP works for a charity called Release International and they have a stand here at Grapevine. I also was given a book by a man called Brother Andrew from Open Doors International. (links to follow!!!!)

Grapevine 1

Hello

It’s the 22nd of August and it’s the bank holiday weekend I’ve finished putting my tent up and have blown up my air bed (an have flopped on it in the middle of the field lol). We’re pretty much in the same place that we camped in last year which is cool.

The Mow Mow’s are putting their tent up over my shoulder and The Gibb and Mrs Gibb have put up their trailer tent.

I am really excited but also kinda tired I didn’t sleep great I went to bed at 1:15 and got up about 7:30. I was just too excited.
P
I need to move my airbed into my tent now.

I nipped into the supermarket on my way to work so that I had some milk for cereal (as you can tell I am living so healthy while Mr J is away).

I used my Morsbag for the first time!!!!

I’ve got Mail!!!!!

So on Monday I managed to intercept the postman before leaving for Soul Survivor, There was a letter for me from Merlinda – This is what I had in there
Merlinda - Swap-Bot

Then today I nipped home at lunch and there was a Letter from KnittyCat at the Plurkette Hencircle and a Postcard from JenniWhit2 who is also from Swap-Bot.

I then got home from work and I found a brown envelope on the stairs. It had my address on it but there was no stamps etc. I turned it over so that I could see who it was from and there was this really cool drawing on the back. (Let me explain – I love kids art – even when its an unrecgonisable scribble!!! Kids draw and they don’t care that the heads are massive or the arms are squiffy they just draw for the love of it)
My Drawing from Pootle's Son

I then opened the package and took a photo of this…..
Pootle 1

I then had to run and stick the envelope on the Fridge so that I can see it (actually I just realised it’s on the Freezer not the Fridge lol)

Then I opened the green tissue paper and this is what I found….
Pootle 2

A Morsbag made of funky blue fabric (which apparently was a bed sheet – or pillow cases or something so it was recycled) and a Lovely troll!!!! I love the trolls with mad hair!!!!!

I also found three funky gel pens theres pink red and yellow-y gold.

As I write this post I am watching Maestro and I am so tempted to go and get out my Flute and have a play.

Soul Survivor: Tuesday/Day 2!

Hello

It’s Tuesday now – by the end of the week I will be well and truly lost and not remember which day it is lol.

So today started around 5am when it started absolutely pummeling down with rain!!! I was really worried that we might get flooded – (btw I have paid 60p for half an hour in the internet cafe on site – I am typing like a mad nut to get some words on the page before I run out of time in 7 Minutes)

Yeah so it started raining – I wiggled around and checked that all my stuff was away from the walls of the tent – I really didn’t want wet clothes. Mr J is in a seperate tent from me and his tent leaked!!!!! He woke up in a puddle 🙁 (Oops I just moved my foot and kicked the girl next to me!!)

We headed for the nearest camping store to look for a tent but we couldn’t find a camping shop so we ended up at “Our Goose” – as nicknamed by Mr J (Ar-gos to rest of the world! or at least the UK!)

The shop that we thought might do camping bits actually didn’t do very much more than seeds, random gift bags and bits like that (eek 4 minutes left!!!!!)

I am typing this at high speed as my phone is on charge at the moment and I need to save the battery lol.

We got back to site and put up his tent and took down the old tent. His new tent is a funny shape it’s like a dome tent but on one side it’s like stretched.

After lunch we went for a walk down to the cafe called “Cafe Uno”. I had a can of diet cola and Mr J and Mrs Mow Mow had a hot chocolate with squirty cream on top.

We stayed there for a while and listeneed to the Band Stand (Open Mic Hour). I said that I could do it but I dont have my guitar with me or any music. Mr J said that I could probably borrow Robster’s guitar and go on the internet at the Internet cafe to get some music. So I went and chatted to two guys about the open mic and signed up. The guy said I should be able to borrow a guitar if I needed one. Just as I spoke to the first guy the second thunderstorm broke so we were stranded in the Cafe.

When the rain slowed up I headed for the cafe and started the post and looking for the chords to four songs. So my play list tomorrow is Don’t Look Back In Anger, Other Side of The World, Hotel California and Anyone Else but you (the sweetafton23 version from YouTube (I will put in links when I am back on the proper Internet)

I’m going to go now ttfn

I got back to the tents and the ground is proper water

Soul Survior Day 1

Hello!!

So today we at heading for soul survivor. I am sat in the mini bus next to Mrs C. I was supposed to be driving the Seicento but I was bored and rally not handling being on my own for so long (also the fact that Mr J had put the phone down on me multiple times. Making me feel really down)

I was really unhealthy and had an All Day Breakfast Sandwich from the supermarket we stopped at. We’re about 30 minutes away I think and I can’t wait to arrive.

Here for now is a picture for your perusal. (I will try to post HSMS later if I can find something to fit todays word)

This was a random mound we spotted near Devizes (just after the chalk horse I think it’s called Silbury Hill)

SPS

I am posting on the right day for once lol!!!!!

Today I had my hair cut for the first time in 6 months – I need someone to remind me when I should go get my hair cut lol.

Anyhoo my SPS is of my new do!
My New Hair Cut

I’m ready, are you?

So on Monday we’re off to Soul Surviour, that is me, Mr J, Mrs Mow Mow and our youth group – well mainly the boys if our youth group.

(Can’t wait for hug a Steward on Thursday or Friday. It’s just so much fun!!)

My current problem that needs a solution is that I have enough clothing to last me while I am away but I don’t actually have any smart clothes for work the following Monday (I get back on the Saturday – I’m going to shower load the machine and sleep – I dot think there will be much sleep on our camp lol) so I need to speak to my Mum very nicely and see if I can borrow her machie and washing line to get some clothes clean for that week or at least the first few days of the week.

I am also in need of a haircut I tried to call the hairdressers on the chance that the lady had space but she wouldn’t answer the phone and the machine wouldn’t kick in. Mum said I could have her appoinment which is fine but my hair isn’t desperate. It’s not been cut since lie February what’s another few weeks.

In need of bed so I wish you a good night. Adieu adieu lol.

(the picture is my piles of clothes as I packed yesterday before bed.

Ikea

Hey

So Mr J wanted to go and look at harnesses (and I wanted to look at the skater shops) at Xcape in Milton Keynes.

We’re now at Ikea and although I do love it to bits. We always seem to spend more money than we mean to – it wasn’t so much of a problem at no 90 but now we have our own bills and things like that to think about.

Apparently I’m in charge of the finances but Mr J is in charge of design lol.

Anyhoo Soul Survivor starts on Monday which is muchos exciting but I have to drive the car down – that me on my own for three hours!!! I can listen to Ken Bruce on Radio Two or Jo Whiley (except I think she’s on holiday as well lol) on Radio One. However I might create some mix discs for the way down. Any suggestions????

I’m now sat on a pallet waiting for Mr J to catch up.

Anyhoo I am going to post this before my phone decided it doesn’t want to co-operate.

Han over and out!

YGM!!!!!!!! British Birds Stylee!

Hoppyloo

On Saturday, My Name was drawn out of the hand to be the receipient of lots of Mail, thanks to the other girlies at British Birds on Swap-bot. I was going to post about it on Saturday but decided that I would wait for the first package to arrive before posting about it. They have blue, pink and white stars on them – how more like me can you get?!?! lol

There will be more to follow over the next few months and if I get my act together there should be some more photos for HerSpace-MySpace posted very soon.

So here it is my first package!!!!!

These socks arrived from Hoppyloo this morning. I was going to try and put in a link to her blog but I don’t know if she has one so the above link is for her Flickr page.

Smile of the Day

From Aunty Ali

A plane passed through a severe storm. The turbulence was awful, and things went from bad to worse when one wing was struck by lightning. One woman lost it completely.

She stood up in the front of the plane and screamed, ‘I’m too young to die,’ she cried. Then she yelled, ‘If I’m going to die, I want my last minutes on earth to be memorable! Is there anyone on this plane who can make me feel like a WOMAN?’

For a moment, there was silence. Everyone stared at the desperate woman in the front of the plane. Then the man from Australia stood up in the rear of the plane. He was handsome, tall, well built, with dark brown hair and hazel eyes.

Slowly, he started to walk up the aisle, unbuttoning his shirt as he went, one button at a time. No one moved. He removed his shirt. Muscles rippled across his chest. She gasped…

Then, he spoke… ‘Iron this — and then get me a beer.’

Show off Sunday.

I’ve been taking less photos at the moment with being ill and being generally busy so I picked a favourite of mine.

Mrs C had to take our photo for the church website and this was one of my favourites even if The Murf picked a silly one.

So mine is a bit of a twisted one to get it to fit.Yesterday I was taking some rubbish out at church. I thought I’d bequick and really clever if I nipped behind the bus rather than walkingto the front and round.I was wrong.I mis-judged the width between the wall and the bus, I knew there wasa step and so would just need to be careful. I wasn’t careful enoughand ended up catching my shin on the edge of the step and my arm onthe other end of the step.Chris and Jeccy came and helped me out of my contorted mess half onthe step half on the paving of the driveway. My injuries were mainly bruises and grazes but I should be ok. So hereis the bruise from my arm (After today I’ve come to the idea that mywrist although it didn’t hurt straight away having used it most of theday I think it took quite a lot of the brunt of me landing.)

Friday

70th Birthday

Hello!!! So Grandma turned 70 yesterday! She’s still young! lol Tomorrow is her birthday lunch so that will be super fun! Does anyone know where I can get a 70th badge from? Me and Mum have both been on the look out and the closest we can get is 7th or 60th!!! How annoying – in a country where people are living longer I feel they are missing a niche in the market! So I went to work today – Aunty Ali asked how I was when I got there and my response was rotten. I did feel rough I was going to call in sick but I don’t know the procedure and Hazel had asked me to do some specific bits so I kinda wanted to get them sorted for her as she’s not in on Monday and Diptee is on holiday from Tuesday.Anyhoo so I went in for about 2 1/2 hours then came home where I slept through till about 4:30 pm. I woke up about 2ish when the phone rang it was a junk call from Imperial Holidays or something like that – they’ve called every day for about two weeks. I’m not really sure who I am supposed to call to make a complaint and I don’t have the money to get a diversion thing. Any ideas?I received my other Let’s Get Personal Letter which made me smile – I am off to write my answers in an email back to my partner (I would post but I have too many bits to mail in the next few days) I am going to curl up in front of the TV and watch rubbish for the rest of the evening. Tomorrow is Grandma’s Birthday lunch, Sam and Owen’s Baptism and the 24/7 Old Rock Disco – or something. I’m coming as a goth – thought it’s not going to proper goth I don’t think.

MacBook and Tonsilitis

Yes in the same week I got something good and something not so good. On Monday I went to see Mamma Mia with some girlies from church (Mrs W was supposed to come but Essie wouldn’t feed properly so she had to cancel – we have planned to watch it on DVD when it comes out and dance round the living room)Anyhoo so we went to see the film which was seriously cool and very funny!!! Julie Walters is hilarious (Walters – she’s in Billy Elliott as the dance teacher but she’s not as funny in that because its a different type of film – I think she’s great along side Celia Imrie and Victoria Wood in things like Acorn Antiques and Dinnerladies(i think!)Anyway we throughly enjoyed it.Fast forward to Tuesday evening – I was feeling a little bit rough and had a sore throat but thought that was just over enthusiatic singing at Mamma Mia (yes I sang along to the songs lol) I took some paracetamol and went to bed, thought I’d shake it and I’d be fine in the morning. I wasn’tI got up Wednesday morning – I had swollen glands and a block up ear. When I went to bed I had gained another swollen gland in the back of my neck. I got up this morning and on my left hand side at the bottom of my skull it had started to swell. I went to work and decided I’d ask Aunty Ali what she thought. She made some silly comment and made me laugh so I texted Mum and she suggested that I should go to the Doc’s. I phoned the Doctor and they didn’t have any spare appointments to see my normal Doctor until next week but I could see the Prescribing Nurse. She told me I had small tonsils even though they are inflammed. So she put me on Penicillin (or Phenyloxymethylpenicillin!) to help clear it up.So there’s a plan – up dated!

Say When?

I have an aunt who whenever she poured anything for you she would say “Say when”. My aunt would say “Say when” and of course, we never did. We don’t say when because there’s something about the possibility, of more. More tequila, more love, more anything. More is better.

This is one of my favourite quotes frrom Grey’s Anatomy. I don’t really know why I just like it so I thought that I would share it with you people out there.

Row and Red

I got sidetracked and wasn’t able to do the idea that I thought of for Row so I might have to do it again another day. So this is row – I spent most of the day surronded by a small rainforest of paper lol. I try and organise into piles but it still spreads – here we have completed orders on the right, people to call again in the middle and awaiting orders on the left.

Next we have Red, I purchased a painting by Dawn the painting is one of her illustrations and the character is called Leia. I have one of her business cards stuck to the frame of my computer at work to brighten up my desk a little bit (it looks so boring!) So red is the background colour and the colour of the characters shirt. One day I hope to have my own Moo Cards with my photos on them so that I can direct people back to my blog which will have a gallery of my photos. What I didn’t realise until I posted to Flickr was that the mouse was over the link to HerSpace-MySpace – so it’s in the picture. (I am very excited my Mum has gone to buy my MacBook this afternoon!!!!!!Yay!!!!)

She is Amazing!

My Mum gets like 30 Brownie points but that would still not be enough!!!

One of her clients is in Newton Blossomville which is on the outside of MK.

She’s going to go to the Apple Store in Milton Keynes to get the macbook for me. She rocks!!!!!!

R.I.P Poorly Computer

MacbookSo at the end of May my brother placed an order for his new computer. I offered to buy his old one of him as my Laptop was going into meltdown – it wasn’t well.

Well his computer is passing out on me – it wont load properly when it does load up it doesn’t recgonise drivers for things like the USB adaptor. So I am kinda a little cheesed – I guess it’s ok because I can blog from my iPhone or steal Chris’s laptop in exchange for cups of tea. I worked out that I am £170 short of getting the lower spec of the two white MacBook’s that are on the Apple UK Website (I could also try bribing Chris to see if he can use his student discount – that would reduce the gap a bit lol)

Anyway to this is the item I am drooling over and saving up for hopefully. Just have to try reinstalling Windows once more and seeing if it is well and truely going to be seperated for bits or will be adopted elsewhere.

The Greatest Love

The Greatest LoveOriginally uploaded by godsrockangel

The Greatest Love of All – so technically this is Sunday’s and I am going back to Saturday’s Prompt.

So what’s my rubber bracelet got to with The Greatest Love of All. Well all sorts really! The 4 symbols are actually titles 4Points.

The four symbols stand for:

Heart – God Loves Me, The Multiplication – I have sinned, The cross – Jesus died for me, The question mark – I have the decision to Follow God.

So the Greatest Love of All for me would have to be Jesus’s love for me, after all He did some bigs things in his little earthly life!

Imagine……..

Imagine there’s no Heaven
It’s easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today

Imagine there’s no countries
It isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace

You may say that I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world

You may say that I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will live as one

Just for a moment close your eyes, imagine the world in peace, no bombs, no hate just love for one another, no mean, hurtful or destroying words said, families living together rather than seperated. It’s hard isn’t it? But then again we can do our little bit, when you are at work, if you walk down the corridor and someone is coming the other way (or walking behind you) hold the door open for them, when you’re at the supermarket – if someone can’t reach an item see if you can help them (I’m a short person and I struggle sometimes), smile (not in a creepy way) at someone – you just might make their day. OK so it’s not peace and love like Lennon is talking about but it’s doing that little thing to make a difference to someones day – that shows love and peace. I work in a little office there’s 7 of us (sometimes only 4 or 5 depending on whos here) if I get up to make a drink I ask the other people in the office if they would like one as well – maybe they would like a drink but are too busy to get up and get one.

Pick a day in your week that can be your Do a Good Deed day. I’ve decided that mine will be a Friday and so far I have opened a door for someone and made my manger (Hazel) a cup of tea.

I don’t have an image yet I am off to imagine one! haha!

The song today was released in 1969 when Pokettiger was born. The song for today is “Aquarius/Let The Sun Shine In”. I love this song! When I was in the sixth form we did a production of Hair and I loved it!! I was going to audition for a main part but I was working on Saturdays and so couldn’t go 🙁 but my drama teacher was fab and made me a water carrier in The Trip scene so I had to walk up the staging to the guy playing Claude Bukowski. My favourite song is Electric Blues or Frank Mills.

Anyway so my verse is from Proverbs and it’s one of my favourites, and writing on my hand is one of my worst habits! I tried the whole carrying a notepad round and writing notes and it works for a little while till i change bag or forget my notepad.

When I was at upper school I did Italian – I started in year 9 and finished in year 12. I loved it till I got to A Levels where it got seriously hard.

I kinda wanted to speak the language for speaking it rather than taking exams and stuff like that.

I received an email this morning from my Aunt who works in the same office as me from one of the ladies in the US office. This was one of the important sentences: “Dave tells me your lovely niece speaks Italian?” erm thats me and speaking and italian in one sentence.

Lady in US Office wants me to translate a letter from English to Italian to send to the distributor – I need a lie down! and a dark room.

I’ve been waiting most of the day to hear what I have to do and it’s just arrived – here it goes!!!!

THE PERFECT HUSBAND

Several men are in the locker room of a golf club. A cell phone on a bench rings and a man engages the hands free speaker function and begins to talk. Everyone else in the room stops to listen.

MAN: ‘Hello’

WOMAN: ‘Honey, it’s me. Are you at the club?’

MAN: ‘Yes’

WOMAN: ‘I am at the mall now and found this beautiful leather coat. It’s only £1,000. Is it OK if I buy it?’

MAN: ‘Sure, go ahead if you like it that much.’

WOMAN: ‘I also stopped by the Mercedes dealership and saw the new 2008 models. I saw one I really liked.’

MAN: ‘How much?’

WOMAN: ‘39,000’

MAN: ‘OK, but for that price I want it with all the options.’

WOMAN: ‘Great! Oh, and one more thing…the house I wanted last year is back on the market. They’re asking £1,950,000’ for it.

MAN: ‘Well, then go ahead and give them an offer of 1,800,000. They will probably take it. If not, we can go the extra 150,000 if it’s really a pretty good price.’

WOMAN: ‘OK. I’ll see you later! I love you so much!’

MAN: ‘Bye! I love you, too.’

The man hangs up. The other men in the locker room are staring at him in astonishment, mouths agape.

He turns and asks: ‘Anyone know who this phone belongs to?’

My Grandparents were due to be moving house today then in between everything else it got moved to Friday. Grandma has been packing so they are ready to go since the house went on the market about two months ago. So they are ready to go.

Well that was till yesterday…..their chain fell through and now they aren’t moving. (Do you get me?!?!)

Ooooops

Gentleman called up slightly annoyed that we’ve not answered his email.

So I go on the hunt track down the email – we haven’t replied as there are no attachments to the email (and well I think my manager was avoiding it!)

I ask him to send the attachments again so I can have a look and get it sorted.

He stays on the line while I print them off and come back to the phone.

Customer: Why did I need to send my receipt to you if you’re just going to give me the information I have in front of me.

Me: Well sir it’s a normal process that we go through when ever a customer requests the keys or code for their safe.

Customer: Grr….(general grumpy-ness!!!!!)

Me: Sir, what type of batteries did you put into your safe?

Customer: Erm What batteries? I haven’t put batteries in it?!

Me: Ok sir we recommend two certain brands

(Customer puts in batteries and the safe opens first time!!!!)

PROJECT #1:

Introduce yourself.

I know, I know. That’s a little anticlimactic. Here were are, talking about changing the world from our rocking chairs on our porches with a little pie, and I’m asking you to just talk about one of the subjects you know best — you.

Me

It’s funny how one things can lead to another. I used Twitter, then was told about Plurk, which is how come I ended up here thats to the Plurkettes Hencircle. So this post is about Me, yup that person in the picture above is me. I’m 22 (or so my birth certificate would have me believe) I was born on the 27th April 1986 at Bedford Hospital. I was born at North Wing which is where the Baby ward was until they moved it to South Wing a couple of years ago.

Up until May 2007 I lived with My Mum, Dad and Brother. I then got married to Chris and we moved in together at No 90. At the end of May when my job was confirmed as permanent, we looked at getting our own flat and within a few weeks moved to our new flat (I need a nickname for it, because it won’t be new for long lol).

I am now posting from my phone sat at church (well the church office) today we are having a meeting to discuss the Halloween alternative party (yes we are just into July and we’re planning October)

Erm trying to think what else to write. If you think of something ask me a question.

Edit I forgotten to plug my inner FarmGirl lol. Ok so I am useless at looking after plants they always die on me!!! So my aim is to buy a potplant and keep it alive – I will do what my Grandma does and I’ll talk to it if needs be!!!!!

Do I Know my Neighbours?

I found this article thanks to of Gray Cee at The Parenting Diaries and I got inspired to write this post. Do I know my neighbours? Could I call on my neighbours if I needed help with something?

I can still list quite a few of the people who live in the same street as where I lived when I lived with my parents. Working along the street, Michael and Cat lived at 2, Clare and Philip at 3, Ollie and Jordan at 4, Mr and Mrs Redman at 5 and Amy and Warren at 11. Now it’s changed and people have grown up and got married, or gone away to university or in the case of Mr and Mrs Redman, Mr Redman died and Mrs Redman lived on her own for a little while. Twice in my last year of uni (when I still lived with Mum), her carer came and rang Mum’s doorbell as Mrs Redman wasn’t answering her door. The first time she was out at her Day Centre’s Christmas lunch thing and the paramedic’s had called the police to break in – the carer had arrived and there was no answer. As the carer, though someone was in she called the Paramedics. I then arrive back from uni and a policeman comes and knocks on the door. He asked if we had any keys or form of access and I said yes as Mum had told me the code for her emergency key box, I was too late and the paramedic or the policeman had broken a window to get in! The second time she was genuinely hurt, she’d fallen over and ended up on the floor leaning up against her walker. It was a walking frame but was on wheels and also had a tray so she could carry items around the house. Thankfully she wasn’t hurt, but if she hadn’t had had contact with anyone in the street and she had have been hurt, would she have been ok? How long would she have sat there by herself until someone helped her?

When Chris and I got married, we also moved in together. Our first place was a small “flat” within the house that was home to the church office. We knew our next door neighbours but didn’t really know anyone else in the street. There was a friendly family at No 99, they sent everyone in that bit of the street a quick note to let us know that it was their daughter’s birthday and that if there was a bit of noise they were sorry. Then next door there was Judith and Dave – they are super lovely!!! Whenever we had packages arrive and we weren’t in but they were they would sign for them for us. We made a neighbourly gesture as such which was to give them a plate of homemade biscuits at Christmas back in 2006, and then homemade fairy cakes Christmas 2007. The ones in 2006 were also kind of welcome to the neighbourhood as they moved in about 2 weeks before Christmas. We did know one of the neighbours who lived at 94 but we didn’t really talk as she always seemed to be on a mission to get somewhere quickly.

Now Chris and I have moved to our own flat, I can tell you the names of three of the other four people in our building but that’s all I can tell you. Well other than the fact that the lady directly downstairs from us really likes to watch Flog It! She always has it on really loud!

Do you know your neighbours? Would you like to get to know them better? What could you do to create communication with them?

You can find more of my rambles here.

This afternoon some of our youth group have been putting up tents in the church garden. Our youth group is going away in August, so this afternoon we’ve been putting tents up this weekend to make sure they work.

My Favourite Photo

So over here they have been talking about Favourite Photos. I have soooooo many. But here a small selection with a bit of a blurb about why they are my favourites:

Kewey Serena and Me

This was taken last weekend at Amy and Daniel’s Wedding by Sarge. Kewey and Serena are two of my best friends, we went to university together and I am sure that we will be friends for years to come.

Me

This is one I took of myself, I was always so sure that you had to avoid having the camera in the shot – does that make sense? So actually to take this was really cool. I worked out that if I was going something like cleaning my teeth then I didn’t look so grumpy!!

Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and Sam

I got in from work yesterday and really fancied doing something – wasn’t really sure what just knew I wanted to do something and not sit in front of the TV all evening (although I did want to watch the Nelson Mandela birthday concert).

I put on Facebook that I wanted to go to the cinema and if anyone wanted to come with me. My friend Phil dropped me a message saying that he’d come but it depended on what I was going to watch. I’d had a look on the listings and there was Wanted or The Incredible Hulk.

Phil then phoned me as he couldn’t be bothered with texting or Facebook – the art of conversation isn’t dead!

We decided that we’d meet at quarter to 8 and headed to Maccy D’s for a drink and a catch up.

We headed over to the cinema and had a look what’s on. We were stood in the queue and had a look at the screen. Sex and The City was on at 8:20pm, Wanted was on at 8:30pm and Wanted was on at 8:50pm.

Phil and I had a chat about which we wanted to go and see and he said that he wouldn’t mind seeing SATC again if I wanted to see it. (Phil is sooooo lovely!!!!)

I loved it! I was a little concerned that it would be overly graphic like the TV show but actually it wasn’t too bad there were a couple of bits that were a little over the top but they were over quick.

Overall I loved the film and might get it on DVD (then again maybe not!) I did have to give Phil a quick rundown on where we left the TV show as he had never ever watched an episode.

The Quirks of Me

So I kinda self tagged myself at Danielle‘s blog:

1. I always have my toenails painted (even through the winter when I live in socks)
2. I nearly always have at least one spare hair elastic with me.
3. When I was younger I hated Thunderstorms now I love them.
4. I am really messy, but 99.9% of the time I can tell you where stuff is.
5. I always wear odd socks! Without fail – I did to a job interview and as the interview went horribly wrong I decided that unless it was really neccersary that I wore matching socks, I would carry on wearing odd socks.
6. I love to work with music on it just makes  me feel more motivated.

Just Dance

To dance is to be out of yourself, larger, more powerful, more beautiful. This is power, it is glory on earth and it is yours for the taking.

– Agnes de Mille

I love dancing. I love the bit in Billy Elliott where he’s asked how he feels when he’s dancing and he says

Don’t know. Sorta feels good. Sorta stiff and that, but once I get going… then I like, forget everything. And… sorta disappear. Sorta disappear. Like I feel a change in my whole body. And I’ve got this fire in my body. I’m just there. Flyin’ like a bird. Like electricity. Yeah, like electricity.

Me and My Mum had had a chat about how long it would take me to get to work – she said it would be about 30 minutes – so I left at 8am to be at work for 9am and I got here at 25 to 9!! Whoop! So now I know that I can leave my house at about 20 past and still walk to work. I’m still going to get my folding bike as I would prefer to cycle – especially up Cemetery Hill. (There’s a footpath that runs up a hill along side Bedford Cementery – thats why it’s Cementery Hill – It’s also fairly steep!

So this is the gatehouse to the park which I guess is where the rangers hang out (either that or someone actually lives there) Anyhoo I picked this for support as the scaffolding in supporting the building.

This is supposedly an arty photo of the Dissertation that plagued my last year of university. (As I post this I am on hold trying to organise our water bill – it clearly says you can set up direct debit by the automated system rather than waiting for a form – the automated system is an answerphone that takes your details to sent you a form – how does that work????)
